WHAT IS IN THIS FOLDER

REQUIREMENTS

macOS 11 Big Sur or later. One file covers Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Ableton Live 11 or 12 with Max for Live (included in Suite, or the
Max for Live add-on for Standard).
Slates are spoken by the voices built into macOS. Nothing else to install.

INSTALL

  1. Move TazPro.amxd somewhere it can stay. Live's User Library is the
     usual spot:
       Music/Ableton/User Library/Presets/Audio Effects/Max Audio Effect/
Any folder you have added to Live's Places works too. Do not run it
from Downloads or from inside this zip: Taz keeps its Slates folder
and debug log next to the device, so it needs a permanent home.

  2. In Live, drag TazPro.amxd onto an audio track of its own. Name the
track TAZ and leave the device there. Taz reads your Arrangement
locators and Session scenes; it does not need to be on a track that
     carries audio.

  3. Give it a few seconds to load the first time.

ACTIVATE

Your keyfile arrived by email with your order. Drag it onto the Taz
device, click ADD KEY on the Demo Mode notice, or use Import in Taz's
settings. No internet connection is needed, at activation or at showtime.
Keep the keyfile with your backups; you will need it on a new computer.

UPDATING FROM AN EARLIER TAZ

  1. In Taz's settings, Export your settings to a file.
  2. Delete the old Taz device from the track and save the set.
  3. Add the new TazPro.amxd to the track and Import the settings file.

Do not drop the new device on top of the old one. Two versions of Taz on
the same track for even a moment is not supported and can crash Live.
Slate audio regenerates by itself if your voice or set has changed.

SLATES

Taz creates a Slates folder next to the device (or wherever you point it
under Settings > Location) with one audio file per slate locator, spoken
in the voice you choose. Generation happens in the background; the
  notification bar shows progress.

IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

Taz writes taz_debug.log next to the device. Send it along with a short
description and we can usually see what happened. See the Troubleshooting
section of the user guide first; most first-run issues are covered there.
